Proposal Development

You’ve always thought about being a published author, but you need help creating a killer proposal.

The first step to getting a book contract, and the key to getting a good book contract, is writing an irresistible book proposal.  That proposal must answer several key questions, including: who is this book for, why does that reader care about this topic, why are you the ideal author, and why is now the right time for such a book to be published.  A great proposal can make the difference between your manuscript gathering dust on a shelf – or becoming a bestselling book.

As the chair of Regnery’s Acquisitions Committee, I have seen thousands of proposals from authors all over the world. Most of them, we rejected. I know what it takes to get the attention of an acquiring editor, and I know what it takes to convince a publisher that your book is worth their time, effort, and investment.
